LFT Contract Ratification Vote
One of the benefits of being a union member is participating in the governance of the Union. This means that only union members are allowed to vote on the new contract. An email has been sent to LFT Union Members’ LUSD email accounts with the link for voting. If you did not receive it, please check your Junk Folder. If it is not there and you believe you are a union member, please contact lft@lusd.org and we will check and send you the link. Please note that voting closes Friday, 5/22 at 2:00 PM.

LFT Monday Memo
New Business:
LFT Site Representatives are needed for 2020-2021: LFT have at least 1 site rep at all sites, except Clarence Ruth where their reps have moved or retired. We are asking for another member from EVERY site to raise their hand and help your Union by attending meetings and bringing forward ideas to the LFT membership and elected Board. Ideally each elementary school would have a lower and upper grade LFT representative. High schools and the middle schools should have 2 to 3 representatives ideally. By having more representatives your site would be better informed and represented in the event of an absence schedule conflict or need for representation. Thank you for your consideration in choosing this VITAL role for the next school year. If you are interested please contact your current site representative and/or Carol Arnerich at lompocteachers@hotmail.com. Thank you!

2019-2020 Bargaining Cycle: As you know the LFT negotiating team signed a 2019-2020 Negotiations MOU pending our membership vote to ratify the changes and getting LUSD School Board Approval. The LFT negotiating team members are: Lodene Blair, Tom Garrard, Skyler Petersen, Cindy Spangler and Margaret Tennant. Please see all attachments and FYI a ‘TA’ is a Tentative Agreement.

- Today: Certificated A- Z Sent out with Signed MOU , 22 TA’s Attachment, Health MOU and summary of changes (see attachments)
- 5/20 General Membership meeting Q and A on LFT contract changes and MOU’s

- FYI: The elementary bell schedule voting results from last week were:
- Ruth- The new schedule passed by an 84% yes vote.
- Los Berros – Their vote passed- 100% for the new schedule.
- Elementary sites that will be voting later this month (TBD) are La Canada, Fillmore and Miguelito
- LFT Negotiating Team’s Zoom meeting 2:30 to look at MOU’s that are now expiring.

Hope everyone had a Happy Mother’s Day! I loved spending time with my Mom, Eileen, who is now retired and living well in Arroyo Grande as a former union member of the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association (NRLCA).

LFT scholarship recipients: ‘The Lompoc Federation of Teachers–which represents teachers, counselors, nurses, education specialists, psychologists, behaviorists, and speech therapists in the Lompoc Unified School District–is pleased to announce the recipients of the $500 LFT scholarships
